Welcome
Back Alumni!
By
now, we hope that
you've realized how much we appreciate
our alumni. You are truly important to
us for a number of reasons! For example,
did you know what our yearly allotted
budget is for marketing is? We'll tell
you. It's just enough to cover the cost
of our website hosting and upkeep. How's
that possible? We rely on our alumni to
spread the word about our programs. A
personal relationship with our alumni
is what keeps new clients and organizations
being refered to us year-round! You all
are doing a great job - and doing some
serious chatting!
YOU,
our alumni, have been doing a lot of talking
recently - and we've been diligently listening,
making sure that we are offering the resources
and products that YOU want! Take for example,
moreinformation
on First
Aid Kits. After listening
to many of you ask for more information
about first aid kits and how to create
a proper first aid kit, we created a whole
section on just that!
Also,
we have now opened our new Online Store,
WildSafe:
Systems, which will significantly
help to address the many requests from
alumni (and others) asking for first aid
and related items for creating your own
first aid kits from scratch. In fact,
we're working hard to offer a new program
through WildSafe: Systems which will allow
you to build and create a full kit, step
by step so that you can build the exact
kit you want with nothing more or less
than you need or want. This new feature
should be available shortly, as it's still
in the development phase.

Recertifications
 Recertifying
your Center for Wilderness Safety or American
Red Cross training is not difficult—we
offer numerous ways for you to stay current.
You must however, begin the process before
your current certification expires. Courses
and enrollment are limited, so please
don’t wait until the week before
your card runs out to begin the recertification
process! Check your certification card,
check your schedule, and sign up early.
If you are travelling for an extended
period, or cutting things too close, call
us before your certification expires to
see what your options are at (703) 444-9468.
If you are recertifying in Wilderness
First Aid, you must hold a current WFA
certification from one of the following
organizations in order to take the refresher
course and recertify:
- Center
for Wilderness Safety
- WMI
of NOLS
- SOLO
- WMA
If
your certification is not from one of
these organizations, you will be required
to take the course in its entirety because
we simply cannot vouch for the curriculum
taught or the quality of the training
that you have received with another company*.
If
a curriculum has changed (WFA
does every 2-3 years and the Red
Cross courses do ever 3-4 years),
you will be required to take the
full course again in its entirety
to make certain that you are up-to-date
on all current practices, etc. |
*Exceptions
may be made if the organization you hold
a current WFA certification with is a
member of the Wilderness Medical Society. |
